A Night on Calton Hill
One evening in July 2024, I wandered through Calton Hill in Edinburgh. The place was alive. Tourists and locals gathered, drawn by the city’s famous views. As the sun dipped lower, the air changed. The light softened. Shadows stretched. The hill felt like a dream—beautiful, mysterious, timeless.
The Poncho-Clad Stranger
Among the crowd, one figure stood out. Wrapped in a poncho, they moved like a ghost through the fading light. The folds of fabric swayed with each step. Against the backdrop of ancient monuments, they looked like something from an old noir film—out of place, yet belonging. I did not followed the person. I wasn’t intend to make them a centre of the story. Yet the poncho character aperaerd on half of the images.
The Magic of Dusk
Calton Hill is always busy, and that night was no different. People from all over the world gathered to watch the sunset. They whispered, laughed, pointed at the view. Some stood still, caught in the moment.
As dusk settled, the energy shifted. The city below darkened while the sky burned bright. Light and shadow played together, turning familiar streets into something new. The old buildings, once warm in the sun, now carried an air of mystery. The past felt close, pressing in with the night.
Capturing the Moment
Taking photos here felt like capturing magic. The contrast, the movement, the quiet stories unfolding in the crowd—it was all there, waiting to be framed. Every shot held something special: history, beauty, a touch of the unknown.
When the last light faded, I stood for a moment, breathing it all in. The photos I took that evening? They’re more than images. They’re memories of a place that never stops surprising you.
If you ever visit Edinburgh, go to Calton Hill at sunset. Stand there. Watch the light change. Let yourself be a part of the story.
