FLODED PIER

Few years ago I stumbled upon one of the picturesque harbours ever thanks to a random find, on Google Earth.

While exploring the shores of Scotland one day I came across a charming little fishing village named St Monans. The village didn't seem extraordinary initially; however what intrigued me was the layout of its harbour that resembled a meandering snake extending into the ocean when viewed from above. This sight lingered in my mind. I impulsively chose to embark on a spontaneous trip to explore it further.

It took me 1.5 hrs to get there by car but every moment was truly worthwhile once I reached my destination and was welcomed by a serene and beautiful sunset scene awaiting me. The lighting at that time was ideal, for photography as the sky displayed a range of colours ranging from rich oranges to gentle shades of pink and purple hues. Watching as the sun gradually dipped below the horizon filled me with an urge to capture that enchanting moment forever in a photograph.

I placed my tripod in position. Got ready, for some long exposure glory .If you haven't given this method a try yet I strongly suggest it—it's a way to document a slightly altered version of reality. On this occasion the prolonged exposure enabled me to photograph a serene water surface that appeared almost like a mirror mirroring the hues of the setting sun.

The port, in St Monans possesses a charm—the meandering design and weathered stone architecture coupled with the misty waves form a scene that almost appears surreal in pictures. Each capture held a touch of enchantment to it. Snapping photos brought sheer delight.

St Monans isn't a fantastic spot for capturing photos—it's also an ideal retreat to break free from the daily grind and immerse yourself in the stunning Scottish scenery! If you happen to be, around the area soon make sure to drop by as its truly a gem to explore even for non photographers.

This journey was truly special for me as it not produced stunning photographs but also provided a moment of peace and an opportunity to clear my thoughts. It's moments, like these that remind us to trust our instincts and embark down paths—after all; you never know what pleasant surprises may lie ahead! .
